Ultrasonography

Ultrasonography For Your Pet | Koroit Veterinary Clinic

Diagnostics and Imaging

While X-rays show us the shape of organs, Ultrasonography allows us to see their texture and movement. Koroit Veterinary Clinic uses this advanced sound-wave technology to create a real-time map of your pet’s internal organs, helping us diagnose complex soft tissue problems.

Ultrasonography FAQs

Just a few common questions about Ultrasonography. If there is something else you need to know just ask in the Contact Us form below!

  • Is it safe for puppies and kittens?

Yes. Ultrasonography uses non-ionizing radiation (sound waves), unlike X-rays. It is completely safe for developing fetuses, which is why it is the standard for pregnancy checks.

  • What is A-FAST / T-FAST?

These are emergency acronyms. If your pet has been hit by a car, we perform a FAST scan (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma). We aren’t looking at the details; we are looking for “free fluid” (internal bleeding) in the tummy or chest. It takes 2 minutes and saves lives.

  • Can you see everything?

Not quite. Ultrasound cannot see through Gas or Bone. If a dog has a stomach full of gas (bloat) or we need to look inside the skull, Ultrasound won’t work. In those cases, we switch back to X-rays or recommend a CT scan
