Desexing FAQs
Just a few common questions about Desexing. If there is something else you need to know just ask in the Contact Us form below!
When is the best time to neuter my pet?
For most cats and dogs, the ideal time is between four and six months of age. Larger or giant-breed male dogs, we may recommend waiting until closer to their full growth and bone maturity to minimize orthopedic issues (potentially around 12–15 months or even later) Best to consult with out Vets!
What is the recovery like after neutering?
Recovery is usually quick. Most pets are a bit quiet for the first 24-48 hours but are back to their normal selves within a few days.
Will neutering change my pet’s personality?
Your pet’s fundamental personality will not change. Many owners find their pets become more relaxed and attentive after the procedure.
How much does it cost to neuter a pet?
A female spay is a more complex procedure than a male castration and is therefore more expensive. Please call our Koroit Clinic for a detailed estimate for your specific pet.
